Flat-Rate Pricing
Flat-rate pricing charges an agreed amount for a defined service or job rather than billing solely by elapsed work time.
Flat-rate pricing quotes a fixed amount for a clearly described piece of work. It can make a purchase easier to understand because the customer sees the price before authorizing the service. In web services, a fixed quote might cover a landing page with a stated number of revisions, integrations, and launch checks. It does not mean that any request made during the project is automatically included.
The quote should specify deliverables, assumptions, exclusions, payment milestones, and how unforeseen work will be handled. If the work changes materially, a change order or separate approval process can document the new scope. Some providers combine flat-rate packages with hourly work for out-of-scope changes; the contract should make that distinction clear.
Compare flat-rate offers by what is included and by service quality, not just by headline price. For an uncertain or diagnostic task, a fully fixed quote may require specific assumptions and a process for surprises. 'Flat rate' is a pricing structure, not a guarantee of unlimited work.
