Event Deduplication

Event deduplication is the process of identifying repeated records of the same action and counting the underlying action only as intended.

Event deduplication is the process of identifying repeated records of the same action and counting the underlying action only as intended. A website may send a conversion event from both a browser tag and a server integration, or a form script may fire twice after one successful submission. Without appropriate safeguards, a report could overstate leads or purchases. Deduplication often relies on shared event identifiers and platform-specific processing rules, so the exact implementation depends on the tools used. It differs from filtering internal employee traffic, which excludes a different class of activity. A successful deduplication check should compare real submissions or bookings with reported events rather than assuming every recorded event represents a unique customer.
