Engaged Sessions

In Google Analytics 4, an engaged session is a session that exceeds the configured engagement-time threshold (10 seconds by default), includes a key event, or has at least two page or screen views.

An engaged session in Google Analytics 4 (GA4) is a session that meets at least one of three conditions: it exceeds the configured engagement-time threshold (10 seconds by default), contains a key event, or includes two or more page or screen views. The time threshold can be changed in a property's tag settings. This metric helps distinguish some activity from brief visits, but it does not prove someone read every word or became a customer. A person comparing two handyman service pages could create an engaged session without sending an inquiry. Engaged sessions are a subset of sessions and are used to calculate engagement rate. They should not be equated with leads, sales, or completed phone calls.
