Email Bounce

An email bounce occurs when a receiving system does not accept a message for delivery.

An email bounce occurs when a receiving system does not accept a message for delivery. Some failures are persistent, such as an address that no longer exists; others are temporary, such as a mailbox or server problem. A cleaning company's mailing list may accumulate invalid addresses as customers change providers or abandon old inboxes. Bounce information helps identify list-quality issues, but bounce categories and reports differ among email services. Do not repeatedly resend to addresses that are clearly invalid. A bounce is not the same as an unsubscribe, spam complaint, or a message being accepted but later placed in a spam folder.
