Customer Review Generation Strategy
A customer review generation strategy is a consistent process for inviting genuine feedback without distorting or selectively filtering responses.
A customer review generation strategy sets out when, where and how a business asks people who genuinely used its services to share honest feedback. Requests should be simple, neutral and voluntary, such as sending an approved review link after a completed job. A good process gives all eligible customers a fair opportunity to respond rather than contacting only those likely to leave five stars.
Different rules apply across platforms and law. Google Business Profile prohibits incentives for reviews and selective solicitation of positive reviews. FTC rules on consumer reviews have their own scope, including restrictions on fake reviews and certain sentiment-conditioned incentives. A tactic being permitted under one law does not mean it is permitted by the review platform.
Track requests and resulting genuine reviews without pressuring customers. Useful performance questions include whether the process is easy to understand, whether customers can leave negative feedback, and whether requests are sent at an appropriate moment. Review volume is not a guarantee of improved local rankings.
