Customer Retention

Customer retention describes a business's ability to maintain relationships with customers over time.

Customer retention describes a business's ability to maintain relationships with customers over time. For recurring services such as house cleaning or lawn maintenance, it may involve reliable scheduling, consistent service quality, and clear communication when needs change. Retention can be examined through repeat bookings or the share of customers who remain active over a defined period, provided the measurement period is stated. Lead generation concerns attracting potential new customers; retention focuses on the experience after an initial purchase. Customer lifetime value is a related estimate of value over the relationship, not the same as retention itself. No single follow-up message or loyalty incentive can guarantee that a customer returns.
