Cost Per Lead (CPL)
Cost per lead, or CPL, divides the cost of a defined marketing effort by the number of leads attributed to it during the same measurement period.
Cost per lead, or CPL, divides the cost of a defined marketing effort by the number of leads attributed to it during the same measurement period. If a repair business spends money on a campaign, CPL can help compare how much it paid to generate inquiries. The result depends heavily on what counts as a lead and which expenses are included. A missed call, duplicate form submission, or request from outside the service area may not represent the same opportunity as a qualified estimate request. CPL does not describe the cost of acquiring a paying customer. Use consistent definitions and consider lead quality and eventual sales alongside the calculation.
