Copyright Notice

A copyright notice identifies a claimed copyright interest, often by showing a copyright symbol, a year, and the rights holder's name.

A copyright notice identifies a claimed copyright interest, often by showing a copyright symbol, a year, and the rights holder's name. A service business may place one in its website footer, but the notice does not automatically prove that the company owns every photo, font, or article on the site. Copyright ownership and licensing depend on how each asset was created or acquired, and US copyright protection generally does not require a notice for newer original works. A notice is different from a privacy policy or terms of service. Keep separate records for stock-image licenses, contractor-created work, and permissions to show customer properties.
