Content Taxonomy
A content taxonomy is a system of categories, labels, and relationships used to organize information consistently.
A content taxonomy is a system of categories, labels, and relationships used to organize information consistently. A landscaping website might classify work by service type, season, or project category so visitors and editors can locate related material. Taxonomy differs from content modeling, which defines the types of records and fields the CMS stores. It also differs from visible website navigation, although navigation may use taxonomy information. Labels should reflect how customers understand the business rather than internal company jargon. Starting with a small, meaningful structure is often better than creating dozens of thin categories that contain little content.
