A content management system, or CMS, is software for creating, organizing, and updating website content through an editing interface. Depending on the setup, a business owner may be able to change service descriptions, publish articles, or update team information without touching code. A CMS is not the website's visual design itself, and it does not guarantee that every page element is editable. Permissions, page templates, and custom features determine what an editor can change. For a small service company, a well-configured CMS can make routine content updates simpler, while structural changes, integrations, and maintenance may still need technical help.
