Color Contrast
Color contrast is the difference in perceived lightness between colors, such as text and its background.
Color contrast is the difference in perceived lightness between colors, such as text and its background. When contrast is too low, people may struggle to read service descriptions, form labels, or buttons, especially on mobile screens or in bright light. Accessibility guidance uses contrast ratios to assess many text and interface elements, with requirements depending on the content and applicable criterion. A light-gray quote button on a white background may look understated but be difficult to recognize. Contrast should be tested in real designs, including error states and focus indicators. It is not the same as choosing an attractive color palette, and high contrast alone does not make an entire website accessible.
