Call Outcome Tagging

Call outcome tagging classifies incoming or outgoing calls by what actually happened, such as booked, qualified, missed or unrelated.

Call outcome tagging adds a business-result label to a call record. Duration and source alone cannot tell a manager whether the caller booked an appointment, asked about a service the business does not provide or reached voicemail. A consistent tag set makes the difference visible for follow-up and marketing analysis.

Define categories that reflect an actual workflow: answered, missed, qualified lead, appointment booked, existing customer request, spam or duplicate, and unresolved. Teams should document how each tag is assigned and distinguish a caller's request from an eventual sale. Some tools support automatic classification, but ambiguous calls may require review rather than an unjustified conversion label.

Where calls are recorded or transcribed, assess notification, consent, retention and access rules that apply to the situation. Limit personal data in notes, audit classification consistency and compare tagged outcomes with CRM records before reporting return on advertising spend.
