AI-Assisted Content Disclosure
AI-assisted content disclosure is a statement identifying material use of artificial intelligence in producing or altering content when that information is relevant to the audience.
AI-assisted content disclosure tells readers something meaningful about how material was made. It may identify synthetic images, automated voice or substantive AI-generated claims, rather than merely acknowledging routine editing software. Its purpose is transparency when provenance could influence an audience's understanding or trust.
Disclosure rules differ by medium, location, industry and platform. There is no single universal legal label required for every text edited with AI. Separately, an advertiser cannot use an AI label to excuse a false testimonial, fabricated customer or unsubstantiated service claim. A business should confirm what the applicable platform requires and keep a review record for factual statements, permissions and rights in media.
A helpful disclosure is specific: state which component is synthetic or substantially AI-produced, whether people reviewed it, and avoid creating the impression that a generated person is a real customer. Editorial judgment should guide placement. This topic concerns how production is communicated; it is not the same as the general use of AI writing tools or a guarantee of content quality.
