Affordance (UX)
In user experience design, an affordance concerns the actions an object or interface allows; designers often use visual cues to help people perceive those actions.
In user experience design, an affordance concerns the actions an object or interface allows; designers often use visual cues to help people perceive those actions. A button that looks clickable or a clearly labeled phone icon can make the next step easier to recognize. Problems arise when decorative elements appear interactive or an actionable control looks like static text. For a landscaping site, a request-a-quote control should look and behave like an actual control on both desktop and mobile. Affordance is not the same as a call to action: the latter expresses what the visitor should do, while the former concerns how the interface makes possible actions understandable.
