Accessible Status Message
An accessible status message communicates a change on a webpage to people using assistive technologies, without requiring them to move keyboard focus to find the update.
An accessible status message communicates a change on a webpage to people using assistive technologies, without requiring them to move keyboard focus to find the update. Examples include confirmation that a quote form was sent or a notice that new results have loaded. Properly implemented status messages use appropriate semantic roles or properties so screen readers can announce relevant changes. A visible success banner alone may not achieve that outcome. For a service booking interface, messages should be concise, timely, and tested with real assistive technology. An accessible status message differs from an error dialog that deliberately takes focus; the correct pattern depends on the urgency and user task.
