Accessible Name
An accessible name is the text or text equivalent that identifies an interface element to assistive technology.
An accessible name is the text or text equivalent that identifies an interface element to assistive technology. A button that looks like a magnifying glass may need the accessible name 'Search' so a screen reader user knows what it does. Names can come from visible text, associated labels, or other supported markup, depending on the element. An accessible form label is one common way to name a form control, but the concept also applies to buttons, links, and other components. Good names describe the actual purpose of the control and should not contradict its visible label. Adding an accessible name does not automatically make the whole interaction accessible.
