Accessible Data Table
An accessible data table presents relationships between rows and columns in a way people using assistive technology can understand.
An accessible data table presents relationships between rows and columns in a way people using assistive technology can understand. In HTML, real table markup and correctly identified header cells help a screen reader explain what each value refers to. A lawn-care website might compare maintenance plans by visit frequency, included services, and pricing conditions. Without meaningful headers, a spoken number or checkmark can lose its context. A caption can identify the subject of the table, while more complex structures may require explicit header associations. This is different from using a table merely to position visual elements on a page. Accessibility also requires understandable wording and a usable presentation on smaller screens.
