Accessibility Overlay

An accessibility overlay is a website add-on that offers controls such as text-size adjustments, contrast options, or navigation aids. Some products also claim to fix accessibility issues automatically. An overlay is not a substitute for accessible code, meaningful labels, keyboard testing, and well-structured content. It differs from an accessibility audit, which evaluates barriers and documents needed improvements. A service business should be cautious of tools marketed as guaranteed WCAG compliance or legal protection. Evaluate the actual experience of visitors using assistive technology, including whether the add-on introduces new obstacles or conflicts with existing accessibility settings.
