A/B Testing

A/B testing compares two versions of a page, message, or element to learn which performs better against a defined objective.

A/B testing compares two versions of a page, message, or element to learn which performs better against a defined objective. A lawn care business might test two different calls to action on a quote-request page while measuring completed requests. Visitors should be assigned in a way that supports a fair comparison, and the test needs enough relevant observations to support a useful conclusion. Small sample sizes, seasonality, and changing traffic sources can make results misleading. A/B testing differs from a general marketing experiment because it usually compares controlled variations directly. It cannot guarantee the winning version will work equally well in every situation.
